OVERVIEW

Why we should do Beas Kund Trek?

Beas Kund is a revered lake in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh and one that makes for one of the best treks in India. It is the source of river Beas. The term Beas Kund has been derived from Vyas the sage and Kund a lake. It is believed that Rishi Vyas, who wrote the Mahabharata, took his daily bath in this lake.

Beas Kund Trek is the pioneer attraction which has been nestled in the majestic Dhauladhar ranges of the Himachal Pradesh. It caters with the absolute joy and happiness which tourists seek for. It is that most wanted place which you might’ve dreamt once in a life-time for sure.

Soothe your senses with the views of the picturesque lake through which the river Beas emerges and spot a contrasting sight of the crystal clear waters of the river, based amidst the eye-catching mountain peaks of Pir Panjal. The trek will take you through dense forests of towering Oak and Pine trees, along the Bhagirathi River, across lush green meadows, and through bubbling streams and rivulets. It will present to you the breathtaking scenery of the various Himalayan peaks like Deo Tibba, Indrasan, Hanuman Tibba, etc., and the glorious Himalayan sunrise and sunset.

This trek is a perfect choice for the beginners because of its short duration and easy difficulty level.

Very much thrilled right. So Why wait lets go together and see for yourself….

DAY-WISE TREK ITINERARY

Day 01: Receive Guests from New Delhi & reach Manali

  • Time taken: 12-13 hours’ drive from New Delhi Railway Station / New Delhi Airport

We heartily welcome you at New Delhi Railway Station / New Delhi Airport. Then after, drive for about 555 Km to reach Manali. Check-in hotel & rest for the day.

Day 02: Drive from Manali to Dhundi and then trek to Bakar Thach (10,332 ft - 10,800 ft)

After having an early breakfast we will drive to Dhundi. Dhundi is a scenic spot with the Beas River crammed with boulders flowing through here, and forested hills lining its banks. After reaching Dhundi, you’ll be ready to see the mesmerizing beauty of Hanuman Tibba Peak.

The trek is around 8 km long and the terrain is soft with a gradual incline that will take you through towering fir trees and dense oak and walnut forests. Enjoy the fresh forest fragrance and the silence pervading the woods, except for the occasional bird and the sound of your footsteps.

After a splendid walk through the terrain we will reach the campsite. The campsite presents to the trekkers a splendid vista of the Beas River, meandering past boulders, and green slopes all around.

Day 03: Trek from Bakar Thach to Beas Kund and back to Bakar Thach (10,800 ft – 12,772 ft)

After breakfast we will start our trek from Bakar Thach. This is the longest, toughest, and therefore the most vital section of the Beas Kund trekking because it will take you near the origin of the river then back. Velvety slopes are going to be seen from here, and below them, fir and spruce trees are going to be easily distinguishable. From here, you’ll even be ready to see where the timber line ends, and grasslands take over.

After trekking for 4-5 hours, we will reach the beautiful Beas Kund. This lake is the origin of River Beas.

It is a magical place, surrounded by the peaks of Hanuman Tibba, Ladakhi, Shitidhar and the famous Friendship peak. Beas Kund is also the base camp for 3 peaks like Friendship, Ladakhi, and Shitidhar and one highly technical pyramid-shaped peak, Hanuman Tibba.

Day 04: Trek from Bakar Thach to Dhundi and drive back to Manali

Today we will start our trek back to Dhundi through the same trail and then drive back to Manali.

Spend the rest of the day in Manali. You can go for sightseeing nearby and also visit the Mall road where you can go for a shopping spree.

Day 05: Drive back to New Delhi

We start in the morning & get back to New Delhi Railway Station / New Delhi Airport as per schedule. You should not book your return flight tickets on this day. Get in touch with Himalayan Memories team for a suggestion or support.
